1/15 PUBLIX—Spent $31.73, saved $76.62. This purchase qualifies for a $10.00 Publix gift card as part of the Kimberly Clark promotion where you have to spend $35.00 before coupons on Kimberly Clark products. For this rebate deal on this transaction I bought 6 Scott paper towels, 2 Poise pads, 4 Kotex liners, 1 Kleenex hand towels, 1 Softsoap hand soap and 4 lady speed stick deodorant which only cost me $8.00 after coupons, so in getting a $10.00 gift card back these will all be a $2.00 money maker!!

1/16 CVS-- Spent $0, Saved $41.18. I bought 5 Almay eye shadow on clearance for $2.07 each and used a $2 off of each coupon for only .35 cents and after tax only $1.05. I used my CVS cash card that I had from the week before to pay for this so technically I spent 0 because the cash card was free money I earned on previous trips.

1/20 Target—Spent $23.57, Saved $18.40. I bought 2 baby things- a blanket and a pack of pants on clearance, 2 free Legos toys (after coupons), a clearance toy for Hannah, a pack of flash cards for Hannah, one pack of free Bic pens (after coupon), and a much needed new toilet seat! Not really a “couponing” trip perhaps but mostly a lets walk through the store and waste some lunch break time and see what we can find kind of trip.

Walgreens Shopping Trip 1.7.12

I stopped into Walgreens this morning because we were out of milk and I wanted to see if they had anymore of the Loreal clearance make up, um nope all gone! I did happen to find one Loreal eye shadow on clearance so I grabbed that in hopes of using my $3 off coupon, but I forgot that the price of the product has to be more then the coupon value before sales at Walgreens in order for it to work, but I got it anyways because I didn't realize this until the coupon wouldn't scan. Here is what I got:
1 gallon of milk
2 packages of Atkins bars
2 nail polish removers
1 Loreal eye shadow
2 Olay bar soap
I spent only $1.05 out of pocket. I did use my $7 register rewards that I earned the other day to keep my out of pocket so low. I saved $21.99
Considering a gallon of milk costs over $3 bucks, to only spent $1.05 on all of this is a great deal!

MY FAVORITE COUPON STORES

1. TARGET- I have always loved shopping at Target even before using coupons. They have the cutest stuff and I don’t get pushed around or annoyed like when shopping at Walmart. Plus they have great sales and clearance and I love their clothes.

For coupon reasons Target is a great place to shop. Each week on www.target.com they post printable target and manufacturer coupons. The target coupons can be “stacked” with a manufacturer coupon. So you can use 2 coupons for one item saving big! Some Targets will only let you use one of the same Target coupon per transaction but mine will let you use more, which is great because then I can buy more than one of the same product and get the same great deal. If your Target will let you use only one of the same Target coupon per transaction you can always do multiple transactions to use the coupons. Also my Target will give me overages on coupons instead of adjusting the coupon down which is also a great thing because then the overage I have I use on other items to bring the cost down. Not all Targets or cashiers will do this it sometimes just depends on who you get and on which day.

Some of the items that I have gotten for free last year at Target include: Mossimo Jeans- Yes this is true. There was a $5 off of any denim printable coupon available from www.target.com and at that time there were jeans on clearance for $4.98 so they were FREE! I got as many pairs of jeans as I could get coupons. I have also gotten shirts for .48 or .70 cents, free maternity tee’s, free up and up sponges, free dental floss, free ibuprofen, free Circo infant socks, free Maybelline lip gloss, free macaroni and cheese, free pancake mix, free travel first aid kits, free travel deodorant, free gum, free sparkling water, free NYC nail polish, free NYC eye liner, free eco bath sponges, free pantyliners, free cat treats, and free lotion just to name what I can think of off the top of my head.

For Target deals the best thing to do is to print the coupons from www.target.com and to check this site regularly as they can change and update at any time. Mostly though the coupons reset on Sundays, so first thing Sunday check to see what’s available. The apparel and beauty coupons are the best. You can print 2 of each coupon per computer so if you think it’s a great coupon, let’s say $3 off of any women’s tee then print as many as you can. Then check out the clearance racks in store or wait and see if there are any shirts on sale. You will be amazed at some of the stuff you can find.

The other sites to check out for Target deals are www.totallytarget.com and www.thekrazycouponlady.com. Both of these sites frequently update and list what you can get super cheap or free that week at Target. They will also post hot unadvertised deals.

2. PUBLIX- Yes it’s true Publix can be a little pricey but only if you are buying stuff that isn’t on sale. In my area my grocery store options are Publix, Sweetbay, Albertson’s and Winn Dixie. I find Publix to be the cleanest store, have the freshest meat and produce, and have the best sales- since they have bogo (buy one get one free) items and such a wonderful coupon policy.

All Publix’s let you use a store coupon and a manufacturer coupon on each item that you purchase. Publix also accepts competitor coupons, so for example my Publix will accept coupons from Sweetbay, Albertson’s, Fresh Market and Target. Publix also allows you to use coupons on the free item on a bogo deal, so even though you are getting the item for free you can use coupons that will bring the price down of other items in your cart. Publix also allows you to get overage, meaning if the coupon is for more than the price of the item you still get the full coupon discount. I have heard of people getting cash back on deals such as this but I haven’t had this happen to me yet.

Publix also has a Yellow Advantage and a Green Advantage flyer each month that has other ongoing sales and coupons. Most of the time you can score some free items with these sales, the best one is almost always there is a coupon for $6 off of 2 Sundown vitamins, which start priced at $2.99. So just using the Publix coupon you would get 2 packages of vitamins for free, but if you add in 2 manufacturer coupons say for $1 off of each vitamin you would make $2 for each 2 vitamins you purchased. These “overage” or “money maker” items are the best way to bring your grocery bill down.

Also, if you live in the land where they “double” coupons you will get much higher savings at Publix. Unfortunately in Florida we do not get any coupons doubled.

Some of the best sites for finding Publix deals are www.iheartpublix.com. Each Monday Michelle will post the upcoming sales ad and the coupons that go with each item. The new sales ad will start on either Wednesday or Thursday depending on where you live, so you have a few days to figure out your deals and plan your trip. This information can help you see exactly how much each item will cost and you can print off any coupons that you may need. It is best to plan out exactly what you are going to buy and make a list. If you were to just gather up coupons and go into the store you would not be saving the most money and end up adding stuff to your cart that isn’t a good deal. I always make a detailed list and only buy from my list unless I find some unexpected deal. This way I know how much I am spending and how much coupons I have, so if a cashier misses one I can point it out.

You can also check out www.couponaholic.net for other Publix deals. This is my new favorite blog and the deals Steve posts are amazing. He also shows you which products are money makers!

I have gotten many things free from Publix as well…too many to count actually. My best shopping trip was when my total out of pocket was only around $7 and I saved over $200.00. Now I haven’t seen a trip like that since back in April but I have had pretty other good deals since.
I try to spend the least amount of money possible on each trip, normally no more than $30.00. Now I don’t do all of my grocery shopping at Publix because I do buy some stuff at Target and Tom will buy meat from Sam’s Club. My goal for the New Year is to spend no more than $100.00 per week for all groceries and toiletry items, including baby formula and diapers. We shall see if I can do it!

3. CVS- The pharmacies in my area are CVS and Walgreens. I find CVS to be a little easier to shop at with coupons, they are always friendly and I never have a problem trying to use a coupon like sometimes happens at Walgreens. For some reason the cashiers at CVS know their policy and the Walgreen’s employees seem to not understand or know what their policy is. CVS also will accept a CVS coupon and a manufacturer coupon on each item, but they will not give overages like Publix. They will adjust the coupon down to the price of the item. The best thing about CVS is their Extra Care Bucks (ECB), this is a coupon that will print on your receipt when you buy a certain item of the week that has an ECB deal. You can get a lot of free items this way and you can use the ECB’s on other items, thus bringing you’re out of pocket expenses way down.

Last year my savings from CVS was over 90%! People thing that CVS is super expensive but if you shop the sales, use coupons, and know how to get and use the ECB’s then you can find great deals.

You do need a CVS card to get the deals at CVS but this is free. Just go to a register and sign up for one then use your card every time you shop.

When starting out using CVS start with the sales flyer and see if they have any free items, it will actually say FREE on the ad. The item could cost $2.99 but if you get back a $2.99 ECB then the item is FREE. So you would spend $2.99 out of pocket but get back the ECB for $2.99 to use next time. And if you had a coupon you would actually spend less out of pocket, therefore technically making money on the item. Now you could use that ECB and buy something you want that isn’t on sale, or you could save it for next week and see what new FREE item they have and use it on that, therefore rolling your ECB’s from one item to the next. Rolling your ECB’s is the best way to save at CVS.

Make sure to scan your CVS card at the coupon machine every time you go in the store. This coupon machine will give you CVS coupons to use.

CVS will also send you emails with coupons for such things as $5 off of a $25 purchase (the $25 amount is the amount before any coupon is applied) and other coupons. These all add up to great deals at CVS. You can also register for the Beauty Club and after spending $50 (before coupons) you will get a $5 ECB.

The best sites for learning how to shop at CVS are www.thekrazycouponlady.com and www.simplycvsshopping.com. Once you learn how to shop at CVS you will be raking in some amazing deals and lots of free stuff, and I promise it is way cheaper than the Dollar Tree and you are getting name brand items!

Here is an example of how a CVS shopping trip would look (I just made up these prices and sales to show you).

Let’s say Total toothpaste is priced at 2.99 each and you get back $2.99 ECB for each with a limit of 2 per CVS card. Let’s say you also have a Total toothpaste manufacturer coupon for $1 off.

So your transaction would look like this:
$2.99-$1
$2.99-$1
=$3.98 plus tax is what you would spent out of pocket, but you get back $5.98 ECBS, therefore you have just made a $2.00 profit!

Walgreens Shopping Trip 1.5.12

I normally do not shop at Walgreens because I think their coupon policy is a bit confusing and too much of a hassle, but after I saw a post today on http://www.couponaholic.net/ which is my new favorite coupon site I just had to run to the store on my lunch break and see if I could do this deal.

Here is what I got:

2 nail polish removers

8 Loreal Paris true match roller make up

2 Tylenol cold medicine

1 Eos lip balm

Total spent out of pocket was $2.73 and I got back $7 in register rewards to use next time, so I made money on the whole deal!! I saved over $100.00!

It's too confusing to explain how I did this but if you check out the site I previously mentioned then you can get an idea. I actually still had one $3 coupon left over because my total before taxes was too low, I should have added something else at $2.50 and then I could have used the coupon, oh well. I might go to another Walgreens and see if they have anymore Loreal cause I have more coupons to use.

I do realize that I do NOT need any of these products right now, but if I use the $7 register rewards on something that I do need like diapers for my future little one, then I will still have a good deal.

I'm going to post some more coupon information soon so you can get started in saving too.

I figure I have 2 more months until the little one arrives before my shopping and coupon days are pretty much over for a while. It's going to be impossible to run into a store and do coupon deals with an infant and a toddler so I might as well get it out of my system now while I can.

Happy New Year and Rise and Shine! I am going to try to document some of my coupon trips this year to see how I do. Here is what I got today at CVS:

2 Charmin Basic 12 pack toliet paper
5 Dawn dishsoap
4 Skinny Cow candy
4 Nivea Lip gloss
6 Pantene shampoo.

Total out of pocket was $12.21, total value of merchandise was $78.24, I saved 85%.

I started out with a $10 cvs giftcard which I did not include in my out of pocket total because I won the giftcard. I also still have a $10 cvs giftcard for next time due to their promotion when you spend $30 you get a $10 giftcard. I also would have saved another $5 had my newspapers had the P&G coupons like they were suppose too, but for some reason they didn't. Oh well.

This is Hannah's halloween costume. She was a little cupcake. She loved trick or treating!

I can't get over how big she has gotten and how stinking cute she is. I hate leaving for work each day it drives me INSANE leaving her all day long, I miss so much!!!

I am excited to spend more time with her soon. I know she is going to be a big help when the baby comes. She loves her baby dolls and pretends to feed them, burp them and put them to sleep, its soo cute to watch her.

Other then the normal day to day stuff I have been sewing a bit. I tried a craft show and didn't do to well, but I'm not discouraged I will continue to make stuff and try again.

I also made the baby a blanket with her name on it, I will post pictures of that soon.

My other new favorite hobby is couponing. I am addicted. I love finding the hot deals and getting free stuff, it's exciting and puts me in a good mood! I however haven't been able to find great deals on tp, paper towels, or much of any baby stuff which I really need. Florida doesn't get all of the good deals that the rest of the country gets some of our coupons are even for different values which stinks!

Ok gotta go Hannah is climbing all over me and won't let me type anymore!

Little bean # 2

This is a horrible picture of me, but it's me at 20 weeks with baby #2. We found out that its another little girl!! Yeah to that! I am currently at 24 weeks and due on March 17, 2012.
It's hard to blog and keep up with everything when you have a 19 month old at home but I am excited at having another litttle baby and hopefully I can post more often.

On top of our busy day to day schedules of both of us working and trying to spend lots of time with Hannah we are trying to find a new house closer to Tom's work so that he doesn't have to drive an hour back and forth each day. So if we do find a house it will be interesting to see how we will move, when we will move, and what we will do with our current house. I am just going with the flow and whatever happens happens. I know it will all work out how it should in the end. I just hope that either way I can make room for baby #2 because right now our house is just bursting at the seams. Don't know how that happened but it did.

I also can't believe that Christmas is right around the corner. I am looking forward to Hannah's shock and awe face when she see's all of her presents. Hopefully we will get the tree up this weekend.

I love my little munchkin so much, she is so adorable, happy, smart and clever. Her personality amazes me everyday. Its amazing to see how much she has grown since being the little 7 pounds 2 ounces little newborn. She is crawling everywhere now and into everything. She especially loves to get into the doggie bowl. Even with baby gates and moving all the furniture I still have to watch her like crazy. I wish that I had a special room devoted to just her toys and stuff so that she could crawl around in there. I'm sure she will be walking here soon cause she loves to stand all the time. Motherhood is very tiring but so worth it!

December has been pretty busy for Hannah. We took her to Downtown Disney for the first time and it just happened to be the coldest windiest day of the year so we didn't spend too much time outside. We did have fun at Raglan Road, the Irish Bar in Downtown Disney. As you can see Hannah trying to drink daddy's Guinness.

A few days after we got back from Orlando Hannah came down with a fever and I had to take her to the doctor. It was a short virus thank goodness. Then I noticed that her second tooth came in, so maybe the fever was associated with that.

We are looking forward to Hannah's first Christmas, we know that its going to be a big one!

For some reason I lost the before picture of this dresser, but my dad found it for me at a yard sale for $12 bucks. It is all wood and wasn't in the best of shape. With a little sanding, some wood filler, primer, a can of paint, and 2 new knobs I think this baby came out looking pretty good. For a grand total of $25 bucks Hannah now has a nice new dresser in her room.

It took me a while to figure out what color to paint this thing. Her room is sort of a purple color already but I was thinking of doing her room in pink. Well when I went to Home Depot the guy at the paint counter told me that she will like pink now but later she will like purple, so I was like what the heck lets do purple. Then the paint guy told me that he had a purple color in the clearance section for $5.00 for the gallon so I was like ok. It's sort of a plum color which I think is nice. I also managed to find some plum colored curtains from Marshall's that match. They are being used as curtains to cover the closet since I don't have any doors on the closet yet.

So now I just need a rug for her room and well when we get her bed in there a bed set. Right now her room is still a work in progress and still a storage all for my craft stuff and her miscellaneous stuff. Did you realize how much stuff babies have???? TONS!!

Random Things

Oh how time flies when your having fun. I can't believe that its December already and my little girl will be experiencing her first Christmas. I remember last time this year I was so excited and happy to be pregnant but yet so scared of giving birth and going through that whole experience. I was so scared all the time that I would dream about it and think that I was going to die from the pain of birth. Little did I know that my little one would come out via c-section and the pain would be barely there.

Flash forward to now. How exciting life becomes when you have a little one to care for. Who wakes up each morning with a huge smile on her face and smooshes her face into yours giving you her baby kisses. Now the hard part is trying to figure out what to get a 7 month old for Christmas??? hmmm.

Well I have decided that this year I am not going to make anything handmade for gifts like I usually do. This is simply because I don't have the time and well I have way too many projects that I have started and have yet to finish, so to start a new project would be INSANE! I still need to decorate the house and put up a Christmas tree so I know that is going to take some time. Time which is limited when you work 40 hours a week and then come home and want to spend time with your family.

I hope that everyone is enjoying December and not worrying about all the things that aren't done or can't be done. Just enjoy it! The weather has cooled and a new season is here.

I read a quote somewhere on a new blog that was inspiring to me, the blog is Enjoying The Small Things. This is my new favorite blog!! but she writes that "It's not about the wood floors, No. Life is about love and truly experiencing the beauty we are meant to know". If you read this blog this lady's second daughter was born with DS and she didn't know until she was born. Her blog is truly an inspiration on life and welcoming what is given to you. But the whole wood floor thing got me because I hate my ugly tile floors in my house, just like she does, and they drive me nuts, but to think that that little thing would bother me when there is so much to be happy and thankful for. That to be annoyed with something so stupid as tile floors is ridiculous because memories aren't made on wood floors or tile floors, no they are made with experiences and love and laughter and everything else that is life.

So I write to babble on and give some inspiration to someone out there. It could be worse, it could be better, but it is what it is and just enjoy it for what its worth!

P.S. Maybe my dad will read this and not have an argument with my mom about the cost of paper towels versus coffee filters. :-)

Ok so I missed posting about my trip to visit my parents. I will post some pictures of that soon. Hannah had a wonderful time spent with family but she did come back with a cold. Thankfully she has finished all of her antibiotics and her coughing and runny nose has stopped. Still no teeth yet though which I think contributed to the cold.

Well Thanksgiving was very nice we had over 20 people at my house. I'm not the best hostest cause its not my favorite thing to do. I would rather be home alone ha! But I think everyone had a good time and ate lots of yummy food.

I don't know how I have managed to outgrow my house in one year, but holy moly I have too much stuff!! I'm usually a good organizer and can put things in order and figure out the best way to put things, but for some reason in this house I have the hardest time. I know I need to declutter because I need to make more room for Hannah and all of the stuff I know she will be getting in the future...like um Christmas!

My ultimate idea is to have Hannah in her own room and to use the space in our room for a cabinet to hold all of my craft stuff. Something from IKEA would be good. I don't think we will move her to her own room for a while though because of the weird way our rooms are located in the house. I just don't feel comfortable with her in her room. So right now I have all of my craft stuff in her room and basically well her room is a storage room right now. I wish I had a stupid 4th bedroom, then all of my issues would be solved. ugh.

Well anyways, I have been busy sewing and crocheting but just making little things. Sewing bibs, mug rugs (have you seen these???, they are the cutest idea ever http://www.flickr.com/search/?q=mug+rughttp:// ), coasters, and playing around with my scraps. I crocheted some hats for Hannah and one for Bradley. Basically I have this new thing where I have to be working on something all the time. Probably another reason why my house is a mess and there is stuff everywhere. The dining room has been taken over by sewing stuff and my crochet stuff is in the living room... on top of all of Hannah's gadgets and gizmos.

I had a wonderful birthday.

My parents, my sister Gabby and my grandma sent me a nice package with some goodies, and a chicken for my kitchen.

My sister Heather sent me a delicious chocolate cake at work.

My friend Concetta got me the cutest Owl figurine by Jim Shore.

My BFF Kelly got me some cute owl Tula Pink fabric.

Tom got me a Coach wallet and purse.

Laura got me a cute owl cookie jar and two little owl trivets.

Hannah gave me lots of smiles.

And then in addition to all my wonderful gifts we went to Kumo's Japanese Steakhouse for dinner with my Sarasota family which was really yummy. They sang to me and took our picture. The only bad thing is that you only see the back of Hannah's head in the picture cause I was holding her and she was looking the other way. So I came home and took a few pictures of me and her just so that I will have them. Then when her mom is really old and grey she can look back and see me and her together when I was still semi young and hip. Ha!

Oh and I got some awesome news today at work. After a pay cut and two years of no increases I am finally get a step increase retroactive to October 2009. Sure its probably only 50 cents more an hour but hey better than nothing...and the retroactive paycheck I will get soon should be a nice one that will help me catch up on some bills. Makes me happy to get something...its a good sign that better things are yet to come.

Hannah tried her first cereal on Friday. She didn't quite know what to do. I don't think she got any down in her belly but she was amused at sitting in her high chair and trying something new. I will keep trying with the cereal to see if she will start eatting it.

My how the time flies!! My little baby is 4 months old already. She laughs and smiles all the time now and talks in her baby talk. Its just too cute. She is also still sleeping through the night which is a blessing! She is growing so much and weighs close to 20 pounds, probably why she only can fit in 6 months clothing. She is a happy and healthy baby and I am so proud to be her mama.

How exciting that my little munchin is already 3 months old, she is growing up so fast! She is so vocal now and laughs and tries to talk to you in her baby talk, its too cute! She is still sleeping pretty good at night time only waking up around 4 or 5 to eat and then go back to sleep. She is also adjusting well to her Grandma Dinah. Grandma Dinah talks to her and makes funny noises and sings to her and lets her watch all the cute kids tv shows which she loves. I guess there is this Sprout channel for little ones, some weird looking shows but Hannah loves it.

I think she looks like a good combination of me and Tom.
She has all the cute features of both of us and is such a cutie pie!

This is the other dress that I made for Hannah. This was another one time wear as it was hard to get on her and through her arms. I think that I will have to either make future dresses with buttons or zippers because the pattern that I used it not condusive for putting on a baby. Still cute though! I think I am going to end up hanging these dresses as decorations in her room...if I ever get to working on her bedroom.

Well its been two days that I have been back to work and left little Hannah at home with her Grandma Dinah. I have to say that Grandma has been doing a great job. Hannah doesn't even miss me when I come home. Today I came home and Hannah was sleeping on her Grandma's chest, I guess Grandma figured she would just let her sleep instead of laying her down and having her wake up again, which she had been doing all day...trust me I have done that a zillion times with her too.

It is sort of nice being back at work, socializing again and getting out of the house. If only I could talk about all the crazy guys that I work with, I mean the stuff that they say and do is just too funny. I mean working in an office with 13 men and only me and Laura is pretty histerical at times. You have to have a thick skin to work with these guys, they don't hold anything back. But I have also realized that the stuff that I used to stress out about at work doesn't mean anything, I mean after three months of me being gone its like everything that was important then is done and gone and doesn't matter anymore. What matters is family and friends and enjoying life and not worrying about the stupid little stuff like the idiots who call in to complain about crap. OH and I have to thank Laura for doing an excellent job at doing all of my work while I was gone, suprisingly she did it all and didn't complain. Ha!! Thanks Auntie Laura!

As much as I am ok with going back to work again, I am definitely looking forward to the weekend and spending all day with my little one, I mean I hardly get to see her smile or laugh because she is asleep when I leave and pretty much tired for the day when I get home. I mean I get home, feed her or play with her for a bit, or she naps, then I have to make dinner, eat dinner, do laundry or whatever household chores need to get done, give Hannah a bath, and then put her to sleep. I pretty much only have like 4 hours with her a day during the week. I guess things will get easier and I will have more time with her being awake as she gets older,

Well thank goodness tomorrow is Friday!!

I finally realized the other day that I couldn't have 12 weeks off of work and not even turn on my sewing machine. So I finished this little blanket that I had started for Hannah before she was born. She slept for a long time yesterday during the day so it gave me the perfect opportunity to get this done. I think it came out pretty good, a little wonky as my sewing skills have evaporated, plus I forgot how to do binding so thats a mess but I'm sure she will like it as it's meant to be used and abused.

Oscar likes it too and he liked laying on the floor with Hannah getting his picture taken as well.

The worst ever!

Well after posting yesterday about Hannah's two month doctor's check up, she woke up in a screaming rage!! We first thought that she was hungry, she ate 2 ounces and then started screaming, so we both tried to console her. I knew it was from the shots but I didn't know what the heck do to. I mean she didn't have problems the last time she got shots, so I didn't think she would be so upset or hurt this time, it just never crossed my mind. I thought that I could rock her in my arms like normal and she would fall asleep or calm down, well that never happened. After the both of us trying everything we could think of to calm her down, we called the doctor. Well the doctor took 20 minutes to call us back because I guess it was an answering service and then they called the on call doctor? Well that doctor ended up telling us that oh yeah we should have given her tylenol before and after her shots, um that would have been a big help to know before hand!!!!!!!!!! No one ever told me about baby tylenol and that I should have some on hand... I mean what else should I have on hand because I don't know but I want to be prepared??
Well, I just never knew and never thought to give her tylenol, I don't know what the heck I was thinking honestly I was just trying to calm her and thinking she would stop. So Tom ran to the store (which did you know that most tylenol has been recalled) only to find generic children's tylenol. Well by the time that he got home she had cried herself to sleep. She literally cried for two hours straight, the worst cries I have ever heard. It was so heartbreaking to not know what to do or be able to console my little baby. It was scary and nerve wracking for the both of us as new parents. Luckily she slept the whole night and woke up to the sweet happy baby that she normally is, and never ended up getting any tylenol.
Now I know for future visits to the doctor's office for shots to give her some tylenol so she won't be in so much pain. I guess this is just the first of lessons to learn when raising children, a painful lesson for sure.

Hannah's two month check up

Technically she is already 11 weeks old so closer to three months then two months.
At her check up today she weighs 13 pounds 14 ounces already and has grown another 3 inches in length, so she is at 23 1/4 inches long. She had to get three shots and let me tell you she did not like them one bit. She cried so hard and made sounds that I have never heard from her before, she even made me cry..no fun seeing your baby in pain. I guess these are things that you have to do as a mother. Now she is sleeping in her daddy's arms, way better then getting shots at the doctor's.

Her next check up will be at 4 months, crazyness!! She is almost three months already and I only have one more week without work to stay home and spend time with her. I hope that I can handle being back at work and away from her all day long. It stinks that I don't live close to work anymore cause then I could go home for lunch and check up on her. I will just have to trust that Grandma Dinah will be taking good care of her and that her Daddy will come home during the day to help out.

The bad thing is that I think I waited too long to put her in this because it was hard to get it on her and well kind of tight around her body. The other one that I made for her doesn't even fit her. Ugh, that's what I get for forgetting about these and not putting them on her. There is one more that I made that I think will still fit her, so I will try to put her in that one and take pics.

On another notes, Little Miss Hannah has been sleeping like crazy the last two days. Three hour naps like all day long and then sleeping all night long. I even woke up again in the middle of the night before she did. Maybe she is going through a growth spurt or something? She has never slept this much...

Hannah at 9 weeks

We went out to the Beachhouse Restaurant on Bradenton Beach for their annual 4th of July Celebration, which is actually held on the 3rd. Everyone kept coming up to us telling us what a cute baby we had! She was such a good girl even though it was pretty loud and there was alot going on. We had a great time eatting yummy food and enjoying the company of a few of our friends. I made Tom leave as soon as the fireworks started because I knew it would be too loud for Hannah's little ears, plus I wanted to get out of there before we got stuck in hours of traffic on the beach.

I hope that everyone has a wonderful 4th of July. It's raining here today so I don't know what we are going to do.

Hannah 8 weeks

I can't believe how big my little girl has gotten already. She has outgrown so many of her clothes and is wearing some size 3 months clothes already. She has also outgrown size newborn and size 1 diapers and is wearing size 2. She is also starting to become more alert and looks around at her surroundings alot. She also smiles and focuses on things. Its just amazing how everyday she changes.

Last night I gave her a bath, which by the way she loves. She is so calm and loves to kick her legs in the water. Well after her bath she fell asleep and I put her in her pack n play at around 8pm. After an hour or so I went to lay down in bed and the next thing I know it was 2 am and I woke up startled thinking what the heck she didn't wake up? So I ran to check on her and she was still sound asleep. Over 6 hours!! A first for sure. I couldn't leave her in the pack n play anymore so I picked her up to put her in the crib and then she woke up which was ok by me because I knew she would be hungry. So we shall see if she sleeps for more then her normal 3-4 hours again tonight. If so we might have a good thing going and I might be able to get some more sound sleep.

Other than taking care of my little one I have just been putsing around the house doing nothing much. I thought that when I would be home for 12 weeks off of work I would get alot of sewing done and projects done around the house in between watching Hannah, well that hasn't happened. She takes up alot of time and when she finally naps I then have time to eat, get on the computer, do dishes, laundry etc, hardly time to start any sewing projects or stuff around the house. Oh and not to mention taking care of the dogs who drive me nuts all day. I'm sure things will change and I will eventually have time for other things. Right now I'm just enjoying being lazy and taking care of her. Oh and not to mention that I only have like 3 1/2 weeks left until I go back to work and then I have to leave her for more then 8 hours a day, which has never happened. I already have anxiety about that. But I have to go back to work so I have to figure out a way to deal with it.

Well enough rambling for now.

I did an amateur photo shoot while Hannah was sleeping. I found these cute little headbands online and I just had to put one on her, you know the headbands that the Duggar girls wear. No one will call her a boy while she is wearing one of these. I will take some with her awake soon.
Oh and I have had 6 weeks with my little girl and only 6 more weeks until I go back to work. That's not something that I am looking forward too.

It's hard to believe that my little girl is a month old already, how time flies when your days are filled with feedings and diaper changes. I am still learning and some days are better then others but I know that eventually I will get the hang of things and figure out what her cries mean and how to keep her happy. I am not sure how much she weighs now, I'm thinking around 9 pounds because I weighed myself and then weighed myself holding her and it was a 9 pound difference. I do know that she has outgrown some of her newborn size onesies, she can only fit in a few still and she is very close to being out of the newborn size diapers, I could probably put her in the size one now but I want to use up the newborn sizes that I have. I am still trying to get her to like taking a bottle, but that is becoming a long process, sometimes she likes the bottle other times she wants nothing to do with it.
I can't wait to see what the next month will bring, I'm sure she will grow more and become oh so cuter.

My First Mother's Day

I couldn't ask for a better baby, all she does is eat, sleep, and poop. I think she feels bad for making me uncomfortable during pregnancy, so she decided to come early and give me a birth without any painful labor and be the best baby. But seriously she will sleep until she is ready to eat and then after she eats she sleeps again. It is soo cute though when she is awake and looks around and makes funny faces, plus she will fan her hands out and just wave them around. I have had a few diaper accidents but nothing too scary. I think its all just trial and error and learning when its ok to try to change her.

I'm trying to get some better pictures of her but mostly they are of her sleeping cause that's what she does 90% of the time.

I am doing good and don't really feel like I had a baby. Plus I have lost a good 25 pounds of the 40 that I gained during pregnancy so I feel good, no more swollen feet!!!
This is such a surreal experience and I am truly blessed. I feel so much better then I did a few weeks ago and I can't still believe that she is finally here.
Oh and the whole you forget about all the pain when they arrive is true. I feel now like I could definitely have more children and I don't even remember really what it felt like being pregnant, even as weird as that is cause its only been less than a week.
She is definitely worth everything and more!!

35 Weeks

I can't believe that I made it to 35 weeks, only 5 more to go! I had a wonderful week visiting with my Grandma, Mom and little sister Gabby I missed them so much. They threw me a wonderful baby shower!! I have lots of pictures to share.

I have gestational diabetes

And I'm not too happy about it. After taking the one hour glucose test, and then taking 2 of the three hour glucose tests I got diagnosed with gestational diabetes at 33 weeks. So I had to meet with a dietician today. Now I have a set diet that basically has me really controlling and restricting my carb intake. Its all about the carbs because my body can't seem to turn the sugars into glucose or whatever they are suppose to be turned into fast enough.
So I am aloud 1-2 carbs for a breakfast, 2 carbs for a snack, 4 carbs for lunch, 2 carbs for another snack, 4 carbs for dinner and then 2 carbs for another snack. One carb is equal to 15 grams of carbs, so that's one piece of bread, or one yogurt, even fruit has carbs. So lets say I wanted a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, thats like 3 carbs and way to many for me to have to breakfast. Crazyness!!! Oh and did you notice how many times I have to eat a day? Lots of little meals and trying to eat at the same time everyday so that your body can get on a schedule that it can manage.
So now I feel like all I do is think about food and what I can eat and what I can't eat...which includes all sweets, cereals, and everything that I love!!! She told me to eliminate all of it. No donuts or cookies, or afternoon bowls of cheerios, or even a nice glass of coke.
Oh and not to mention that I have to prick my finger and take my blood 4 times a day!!! Not fun.
So far today both of my numbers have been in the target range so that's good. And I haven't had chocolate in 3 days, since I found out that I had gd... this is even with a brand new box of Entenmanns chocolate donuts in the fridge.
I know I'm doing it for me and for my little girl its just stressful to have to be so restrictive on food because food is my weakness, and its not like I'm overweight or anything.
So I'm just gonna deal with it and hope that Hannah doesn't come out with any sugar problems or come out being a big baby.

Final baby class

So last night Tom and I went to our last baby care class, it was Training for Labor Coping. We started off the class each telling of a time when we hurt ourselves and how we coped with the pain. I of course thought of when I cut my finger with my rotary cutter last summer. Tom told of when he broke his hand one time. Well after everyone gets through telling of their stories Tom tells the class that just to let everyone know all the hospital did was bandage up my finger and tell me to go home. I was like what??? He is crazy, trying to make me look like a big baby. Does he not realize how sensitive the tip of your finger is when its missing???
Anyways,
After we went through some breathing techniques for labor we all went into an actual labor room and had to get into a position either on the birthing ball, on the bed, in the rocking chair, leaning on the counter, in the bathroom, etc... Then we had to hold ice chips in our hand for a full contraction and we did this every 5 minutes while rotating through the room in different labor positions. Let me tell you that the ice in my hand was cold and it hurt!! But it helped to breath and practice different positions. Tom also learned a new way to give me hand massages which definitely helped so I will put him to use on that one while I'm in labor.
Overall the class was informative, but now I'm like um what there are no more classes??? That's it??? I know that there are still a million more things that I need to learn but I guess I will have to wait until little Hannah gets here and just learn as I go.

32 Weeks- March 2010

Baby Classes

Some people think that baby classes are unnecessary but I wanted to take them because I like to be well informed, plus it doesn't hurt right? So here are the two classes that we have taken so far

Childbirth, February 27th, 9 am to 5 pm (this was an all day crash course)
Tom and I learned the whole process of birth and different labor and deliveries. We also did some breathing techniques with him acting as my coach and we ended the class with a massage, which was weird and nice at the same time. After this class I don't think I was more prepared to deliver little Hannah, probably more scared, but at least I know some breathing techniques now.

Baby Care, March 6th, 9 am to noon
This class taught us some of the basics of caring for baby, it also showed us some skin problems baby can have right after birth and in the weeks after. They had a newborn baby come in and the teacher gave him a bath to show us all how to do it. He cried for some of it but I could tell that he wasn't really upset just probably annoyed that he was being messed with. We also diapered a baby doll, which Tom did as I watched. He first put the diaper on backwards as I laughed at him cause it was just too funny, then he tried to get the diaper to stay on without opening up the sticky tabs, which was also funny. But in the end he figured out to do it. Then we learned how to swaddle a baby in a blanket and clean out their noses with the sucky nose thingy. It was a good class.

Our next class is CPR.

By the baby in my belly!!! Seriously she kicks and moves like crazy. It feels soo weird, to see my stomach move and to have like an ouch feeling when she kicks me. It's like having an alien inside your stomach, even though I know its not an alien, its my little girl...still weird. I have also put on more weight every week so moving around has become alot harder. I can't believe I still have 9 more weeks to go. I'm excited and nervous and ready to get her out!

I received a large package in the mail today from a co-worker that I used to work with in Clearwater who I miss very much...daily work life just isn't the same in Sarasota.

Valentine's and a new mailbox

So most of you know that I had my mail stolen around Christmas time. Two separate occasions someone took my mail. Lost checks and lost giftcards, not fun! So my dad got me a new mailbox that you have to use a lock to get the mail out. So hopefully the losers won't come back and steal my mail again, and yes you are a loser if you steal my mail including my grandmother's Christmas present!

Here are some of the Valentine's stuff that Tom got me. He loves to spoil me with stuff. I got lots of candy too. Yummy!!!

I hope that everyone had a great Valentine's Day! I am still hanging in there and ticking along with my pregnancy. I made the mistake of trying to do some yard work yesterday and today I am paying for it big time. My body hurts so bad all over, back pains, leg pains and just overall its difficult for me to get up and move. Not fun. I didn't realize how physically demanding pregnancy can be and how you really have to adjust to the changes. So on top of no more sewing, no more yard work either... maybe housework too cause I just can't do it.

Baby clothes sewing

So I attempted my first try at sewing clothes. I found a pattern for a baby dress, its the Itty Bitty Baby Dress from Made By Rae. I used that to make the three dresses and then the apple dress was suppose to be a dress but it looks more like a top. Hopefully Hannah will like these. I figured I could put her in a onesie and then put the dress on and she will look oh soo cute.

Oh and I think I'm done sewing for a while. With just a little amount of time sewing my back is KILLING me!!!

Baby burp cloths

So I have been searching forever trying to find nice burp cloths, or cloth diapers to make burp cloths. After looking at the ones in the baby section, they all seem thin and made of this gauze material that just isn't soft and doesn't seem thick enough. So I finally found some nice microfiber kitchen towels that I think are perfect. They are soo soft!! So I got them and added fabric to them and ta-da instant cuteness!

It's hard not thinking of baby stuff all the time now, its like consuming me! I can't seem to think of anything else!
I did manage to get the crib this weekend thanks to a generous co-worker who just happened to bring the crib over and set it up for me and Tom. Yeah to that!
Oh and I also got a swing on clearance at Target. I still need a million things and I'm trying hard to not buy stuff until I have a baby shower but that seems sooo far away!!!

New IKEA shelves

Oh wait this isn't a shelf its Oscar.

These are the shelves we bought yesterday at IKEA... that was like a whole day trip let me tell you. It was so busy there. But we bought these and some little things. Tom actually put them both together all by himself, I'm soo proud of him! Ha, cause usually I'm the one putting furniture together. But anyways we put these in the living room and then moved some other stuff around, the house is looking more put together but the garage is a disaster!!!

Oh and does anyone know how to spell shelves?? Is it shelves, shelfs, shelve, shelf?? I have no stinking idea!!

My first baby...

Is eight years old already, can you believe it!!! Time goes by so fast. He will always be my first little one. I just love him soo much!!

On another note, my little one in the oven is kicking or moving around like crazy. I can actually sit and watch my stomach move, she like makes me jump sometimes, so weird!!! I tried to show Tom my stomach moving cause he didn't really believe me but when he went to look she stopped moving. Ha go figure. I'm sure she will do it again and I can show him.

24 Weeks

I can't believe that I'm at 24 weeks already!! Wow.. getting closer!!
I am starting to have aches and pains everywhere but I know it will be worth it.

Oh and I'm not afraid to show my belly to the internet! Ha!!
OH and these pictures are taken through the mirror so they are reversed, yes my engagement ring is on my left hand :-) It's just hard to get Tom to take good pictures of me so I would just rather pose for the mirror.

First Official Quilt for Hannah!

I started and finished this quilt in a week's time..yeah me!! It helps that I had a three day weekend. Anyways I had a bunch of Alexander Henry's Noah's Ark fabric that I bought on clearance at Joann's a while back and I didn't know what I was going to do with it...then an idea hit me and here you have it. A quilt for Hannah. It measures 41 by 41 inches and I just love it!

Baby clothes

Ok so I haven't been like shopping for clothes or anything for the baby yet, but while looking I found some stuff on sale/clearance that I figured I would get.

This purple shirt was $3.00 at Target. Purple is my favorite color and I love butterflies so it just fit.

These three pack of long sleeve onesies were on clearance at Target for $4.00 for all three.

These two onsies I got on clearance at Target for $1.98 for both. Couldn't beat that price.

These two onesies I got at Kohl's cause they were just too adorable. They were on sale for $5.00 each.

This onesie was on clearance at Kohl's for $4.98. I just love the owl!!

So that's the only clothes that I have bought so far, but I'm sure I'm going to be buying more.
I also got a bunch of baby clothes from one of Tom's co-workers. I haven't really gone through them yet.
