Birthday gift and a cute pic of Oscar

Isn't he soo cute?

I made this tote bag for Laura for her birthday. She loves owls and I thought that the patchwork with a little bit of owls and other prints wouldn't be too childish. She loves it!

Proof

Proof that I have been sewing, despite preparing to move.
This is the beginning of something that I am going to make. I will post more pics after I finish it this weekend. Should be cute!!

These are 2 caddies that I made to sit under my sewing machine. One is for scrap thread and the other is to hold my scissors and whatever else I need.

These are a few pouches that I made. I just love making these things. Its a good way to use up scraps. I'm sure I will make some more soon. Some have only batting on the inside for durability while others have both batting and duck cloth so they are really sturdy. Add a snap and presto, cool wallet or coupon holder or whatever.
Of course I had to make some pin cushions with my scraps. I love making these too. I probably have like five pin cushions now. Ha! You can never have too many right?

Inspiration

I love this quilt!! I want to make one just like it. So I started getting some Amy Butler Daisy Chain fabrics and putting them in my stash and I only need a few more. For my inspiration I found this quilt on Flickr from a fellow quilter
Stitches in Play
She has some wonderful ideas.
Maybe after my move I will start on this in my new sewing room. How exciting! I'm seriously so excited to have my own sewing room you have no idea. I think that's what I'm most excited about in getting my own house. Silly I know.

On a separate note I would like to wish my sister Heather a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! Oh and I would just like to say that you are closer to 30 then 20 now. Ha ha!!! Just kidding.

Hazards of preparing to move

A very messy and unorganized house!

This was my kitchen...

This is our laundry/storage room. I can't even walk in there now!

This is my sewing area. What a mess!

And this is my dining room which is now housing boxes everywhere. Oh and can you see my pinwheel quilt hanging?? I added a border to it. I think it looks good. Still wondering if I need to add something else to it or just leave it.

I'm excited to close on my house and move. I will have over 700 more square feet of space!! Plenty of room for all of my stuff.

I don't know what these people were thinking...

But I watched two movies this weekend that were suppose to be really good but were really horrible. I think that the Oscars or Academy Awards are on crack! Seriously these movies were like retarded.
The first one was the Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Seriously? This movie was like watching grass grow. I mean I was waiting and waiting for a point and for something to like happen and it just turned out to disappoint me. The fact that I couldn't understand how they figured how Benjamin got drastically younger alot quicker then the people were getting older. Just didn't make any sense. And the whole thing where he has a kid and just abandons her cause he is going to get young, but yet doesn't get young for another 13 years, its like what the heck you couldn't of stayed with your child until then? Ugh.

The second movie was Vicky Christina Barcelona. Everyone left out the part that this movie was narrated by some annoying guy who had an annoying voice. Oh and yeah this movie had no point either. I mean it drives me crazy that people make millions of dollars of stuff that is basically like half of a story. Ugh. What a waste of time. But seriously this was like something that I'm sure I have seen before. Romance with no point.

I think next time I won't listen to the critics cause I think that they must just get paid to say that stuff is really good when it really sucks!

HAPPY FRIDAY!

Don't you just love this Hungry Monster from Weight Watchers??? Everytime I see the commercials with him I laugh my head off. Laura was so kind to get me my very own little Hungry Monster stuffed animal and now I can look at him at work all day long. he is hanging on my computer screen peeking through the corner. Ha.

Well I hope that everyone has an awesome Friday. I have a wedding to go to this weekend and then I will be starting to pack for my exciting move!! Yeah.
Oh and hopefully I will have some new sewing projects to show you soon. Cause I'm addicted to making things!

Another bag

So this is what I made my Mom for her Birthday. I kind of just made up my own pattern for the bag using a charm pack of Tula Pink's Neptune fabric which I love. I did use the handle from the Birdie Bag pattern and modified it a bit. I think that these prints are perfect for the summertime and I hope that my Mom enjoys this bag. I think its great for her knitting stuff.
I might have to make one of these bags for myself because I just like it soo much.

So anyways, does everyone believe that its May already??? Um hello, not me. I have some problem with time and how every day turns into the next week and then the following month and before you know it I will be old and grey! I feel old sometimes. I know that I am fairly young (28) but still, I'm not 18 anymore that's for sure. I think the fact that most of my days seem to blend together doesn't help the fact of time going by too quickly either. It's hard to make each day different when you have to work all day long Monday through Friday.
Tom actually said something the other day about how my bags and sewing are getting really good and how he would help me start a fabric shop. Ha. I was like um yeah maybe one day. That would be awesome. To sew and create all day long and to look at fabric and shop for fabric. How wonderful.

Well I hope that everyone has a wonderful weekend. I think tomorrow we might go out on the boat again. OH and I have another offer on another house so I'm going crazy waiting for a phone call from my realtor. Probably won't be until Monday now since the house is bank owned and I doubt that they are making any decisions on the weekend. If anyone is buying a house right now, the market is crazy. It's alot different buying a REO or short sale house then just buying a house from a normal homeowner. Keep your fingers crossed for me and I will make sure to invite you to my "New Home Party" that I hope to one day have.
