Belated Thanksgiving Wishes

Sorry to post this late. I had every intention of doing it early but unfortunately when I got to SC to visit my family I caught yet another cold. Who gets sick on Thanksgiving 2 years in a row? Apparently me.

Well I hope that everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Mine was good even though I wasn't feeling well. Being with family is all that counts.

So now onto the Holiday shopping season!! My favorite. I tried to get alot of shopping done before Christmas, but that didn't go as well as I have planned. Now I have barely 4 weeks to do all of my shopping and finish my handmade gifts that I have started. I have quite a few actually...so I'm feeling the pressure.

Well I catch my flight tonight and then I shall be home by midnight and then to work at 8. Ha. Busy schedule!!

Beautiful Views of Cozumel

Random Pics of the Ship: The Grandeur of the Seas

The Dining Room.

Pool Deck.

The Center Atrium.

Back of the Ship.

I didn't get any full shots of the ship. Probably because my hands were full as I was walking back to the ship in Cozumel and in Key West you took a trolley from the ship to the town so I had no time to stop and take a picture.
I think that we all finally agreed that we are cruised out for a while. We are just ready for something new and kind of tired of the same thing on cruises. Although, me and Tom still want to do Alaska...

More pics

This is me in Key West.

Tom in Key West, holding some thing that he wanted to buy but I told him to put it back! Ha.

Sunset in Cozumel.

This was a puppy on the beach in Cozumel. He was very playful, digging in the sand and stealing Morgan's sandal. There were a few dogs on the beach. I don't know if they belonged to anyone or not.

Pictures from Vacation #1

We went to this bar in Cozumel called "Coconuts". This is the owner's parrots. He has lots of animals and you can tell that they are very well taken care of.

This is the other parrot.

Back from Vacation #1 now on to Vacation #2

All of us girls. Molly, Debbie, Laura, Morgan and Me.

Me in Cozumel. It was just beautiful, even after it got hit by the Hurricane a few years ago. They had to rebuild most of the island but it looked very much the same since I was there last.

New book and a weekend project

I am so excited to finally get Anna Maria Horner's new book "Seams To Me". It feels like I ordered this book months ago...oh wait, I did order it months ago.. Ha!
This book has alot of instructions on sewing and great diagrams to help you. I can't wait to just sit down and read it all.

So I decided that I can't wait for my Birdie Bag! I need to make it this weekend so that I can take it on my cruise with me. So my goal is to get this bag done by Sunday. My best friend Kelly is suppose to come over and help me, since she did such a wonderful job on her bag. So hopefully she will come and we can get this bag done, oh and she is going to make another one too.
The fabric on the left is going to be my inside fabric and the one on the right is going to be my outside fabric. I chose a different pattern for the top but I haven't gotten in the mail yet. I had to order it on Etsy because my quilt shop didn't have it and the other quilt shop is closed because they are moving.. ugh didn't think it would be hard to find it but it should all workout.

Well enough for now, I'm waiting for Tom to come home so that we can hopefully go to Alehouse for dinner. Yummy! I'm starving too.

Sunday

Today I went to fiberologie with Kelly for an Etsy sale. Of course what did I end up buying?? More Fabric! HA, how could you guess? I bought some Kaffe Fassett fabric because I want to make a quilt with his stuff, Oh and I also bought some AmyButler for my birdie bag. Check out Kelly's birdie bag on her blog, it is gorgeous. I hope to have some time in South Carolina (and alot of help from my mom and grandma) to make my birdie bag.

So after our trip to Fiberologie I came home and was very eager to sew something. I'm trying to think of stuff to work on for Christmas, but that's not going to good.
I ended up making a thread catcher. This is a picture of my old thread catcher that I made like the first weekend that I got my sewing machine.

This is my new thread catcher. I used some remaining Tina Given's fabric that I had from my quilt.
I have my thread catcher on the window because my sewing machine is right in the corner and the window hook just happened to be in the perfect spot.

Next weekend one of the quilt shop's in Sarasota that I like very much, Sew Worth It is having a big event on Saturday. I'm sooo excited! They are moving into a bigger store and will be having giveaways and a sale all day. I will definately be there bright and early Saturday morning to check out the new store and their classrooms. Should be tons of fun!

Thanksgiving Request

I thought that I might give my family some hints as to what I want for Thanksgiving...food wise that is. Just so that they can prepare ahead of time for my wonderful visit!
I would like some crab meat mold, (which to some might sound gross) but this is my favorite appetizer that my grandma makes every year. It is delicious with those wheat crackers.
I would like a pumpkin pie.
I would like my dad to try to make a deep fried turkey. Deep fried turkey is just the best.
I would like sweet potato casserole.

Ok that's it I think. Not too much of a request is it?

HA HA !!

Fabric Projects in the works

I feel like I haven't posted any new fabric projects in a while. These are "in the works" but here is my Tina Givens quilt that I'm working on. I just need to get a walking foot and then I can quilt this bad boy together and bind it and then I will be done!! Wahoo. I can't wait for that. The picture with the orange is the front. I used the crazy nine patch design, which was easy and fun.

This is the back of the Tina Given's quilt. I just love it. Its got 12 squares and then a border on the top, bottom and the sides, you can't see the top or bottom in this picture but as soon as this quilt is done I will post some pictures for you to see.

I was bored one day and decided to try a scrappy quilt, where you piece the front, batting and the back together, quilt them with an X and then sew the seams together. You then have to cut and frey the edges, which I haven't done yet. I still need to add a few rows onto this. I was thinking of giving this as a Christmas present, but its turning out to be more of a baby blanket with the size and colors...so I'm going to put it aside until someone I know has a baby.

Here is the back of the scrappy quilt. Of course my squares don't line up, but I like it better that way. I don't want it to look like something that was bought from a store. I used some plain color squares and of course some Amy Butler prints that I had.
I also have some other projects in the works, but those are definately Christmas presents, so you will have to wait to see those.

I hope that everyone took the opportunity to use their privileges and vote today. Its very important!

PART 2 OF SANIBEL DAY TRIP

Sanibel Beach. We were really suprised at the lack of things on the island. It was more of a residential island and basically they only had a few shops and restaurants, oh and only a few touristy shops. Not what we were expecting really.

Look at all the different type of conch shells that I found? We found most of our shells at the beach next to the bridge. I probably could of found more but we were ready to head home at that point.

Here is a picture of all of my shells.

Here are a few pictures of the beach. It was pretty chilly outside and the water was freezing.

DAY TRIP TO SANIBEL

On the way to Sanibel, Aren't the palm trees nice? This was a pretty nice looking neighborhood.
Wait!!! Whats that???
Are those quilts hanging on the fence? Why yes they are. They were having some sort of quilt show. We went back to check it out but you had to pay to get in and we couldn't find any parking. Oh well. I got a few pics as we were passing by.
This is the bridge that you have to take to get to Sanibel. Guess how much the toll is???
$6.00.
Can you believe that?
6 bucks just to get on the island. Crazyness!!
Here is the entrance to the beach.
