WEEKEND HIGHLIGHTS

KENNY CHESNEY CONCERT!!

NEW PURSE

The Kenny Chesney concert on Friday was awesome. This is the 3rd concert of his that I have been too and each one is just awesome!

I made my purse with my Tula Pink Moda Flutterby fabric that I got from the quilt shop on Saturday. They were all out of the pattern that I really wanted so I settled on these. I saw a purse similar to this on someones flickr account and I just loved it. It was a pain in the butt to make but I am happy with the way it turnedout. It has the same pattern material on the inside and is lined with stabilizer to make it sturdy and hold its shape. I thought for a minute that I broke my sewing machine but after unplugging it everything seemed to work fine.

Today (Sunday) it is raining like crazy. I think it must be from Hurrican Gustav which is out in the gulf somewhere.

OH and good news, Starbucks has their Pumpkin Spice Lattes back!! YUMMY!

Shells Shells Shells

So we took the boat out today. It was actually a wonderful day. We went to midnight pass and was able to walk to the gulf side of the beach, the waves were huge. One wave knocked me over as I was getting into the water and I lost my sunglasses. Not too happy about that. All along the beach there were tons of seashells, they must of come ashore from the tropical storm that passed through this week, another reason for the huge waves.
Oh and we saw Beggar the dolphin again, sorry I don't have more pics of him because I forgot my camera. But he came right up close to the boat again, he is a huge dolphin. He has alot of scars on his nose and fin. Tom was kind of scared of him this time. It was funny.

Yucko to work tomorrow!

New Fabric

So I went to the quilt shop today and bought a charm pack of Moda Woodland Charm fabric. I thought that I could make something cute but it turns out there there wasn't enough fabric to do so, well at least for me. (the woodland charm is pictured above).
Plus I ended up not liking the fabric as much, but I ended up making 3 placemats, well not completely finished, but thats what its going to be.

OH and I really want to get this Moda Flutterby jelly roll fabric. I'm bidding on one now on ebay cause I want to make a quilt/blanket with the fabric. I saw one in the quilt shop and it was just beautiful, and of course they don't have that fabric anymore. Oh so if you find any of the moda flutterby fat quarters let me know. Cause fatquarters are my thing and I have lots of uses for them. Plus I know that I can make any easy blanket out of them.

More things that I made

This is a curtain that I made for the kitchen window. I know its not how its suppose to be, but I think it works ok.
I also made some pillow covers for the couch. I have 2 of the blue ones and one of the pink one. I have one more pillow to make but I don't know which fabric I'm going to use. Oh and they all have zippers so you can take the covers off and wash them.
I think I'm also running out of ideas of what to make. My blanket is almost done, I put the batting on today. I just have to go to the quilt shop and get the fabric for the back. Its going to be nice and warm cause I put a nice warm batting on it.

Simple Wall Art

So I created some simple wall art with fabric and these things that you use for cross stitching, I don't know what the heck they are called. I'm going to add more as soon as I get some more wonderful fabric. Oh and I wish that the picture came out better, but for some reason my photography skills aren't that great, even with a good camera.

So as you may know by now I am in love with Amy Butler's fabric and anything basically of hers. So Michaels had a bunch of her scrapbook stuff and this like fabric organizer thing a few weeks ago. So I went there today (**first time out of the house in 3 days) and low and behold it was all gone. I guess they had clearanced them out or something. So if you go to Michael's and notice this fabric blue/green pattern holder, please think of me because I am searching for one now. I think its like a scrapbook organizer.

**Oh, I have been home sick the past few days. Darn running nose, conjestion and just plain exhaustion. I actually slept in until 12:30 today and would of probably kept on sleeping if some stranger didn't knock on my door looking for the old tenant. Its been nice to just sit at home and relax but then again when you are home sick and don't even have the energy to turn on the sewing machine it stinks pretty bad.

Well anyways thats pretty much all for now. I think I actually have the energy to work on my quilt/blanket today.

Oh, I haven't had starbucks in 4 days!! I think that's a world record for me.

Amy Butler Quilt

So I decided to put all of those wonderful Amy Butler fat quarters that I bought to good use. So I decided to make a quilt. This is the front of it, well almost all of it.
I think it just looks wonderful. I love the colors and patterns.

Read this article, its about the dolphin who I think had the run in with Tom.

http://www.dolphinlovers.com/dolphin-bite.php

So I guess that Tom isn't the only one who got bit by this dolphin. His name is "Beggar".

Ha!

New fabric projects

So I tried to read a pattern but the stupid thing was just confusing!! After I sewed the zipper on I realized that I should of put a smaller zipper on to leave room on the sides for the straps. But anyways it came out ok I think. I just don't know if the straps are on ok. OH and I went back to the fabric shop which was still having its huge sale, so I bought some more fabric and maybe I will try to make a quilt.

Boating Trip #3

See the dolphin swimming towards the boat....

See Tom putting his hand over the boat to pet the dolphin...

See the smile on the dolphin's face swimming next to the boat...

See Toms not so happy look on his face after getting bit by the dolphin, yep that's right. The dolphin bit Tom's finger and blood was gushing everywhere. I think it upset Tom more that nature rebelled against him.
HA!
We were all dying laughing because this was the funniest thing ever, I mean who gets bit by a dolphin????

Lesson learned, don't stick your hand near a wild mammals mouth, cause apparently he will think that you are trying to feed him.

Silly Weiner Dog

So Oscar jumped into the toy basket and was searching so diligently for something. After sniffing around for a few minutes he found what he was looking for. His bone.
Don't you just love him?

My wonderful Amy Butler fabric

This is the Amy Butler fabric that I bought at the quilt shop today. All on sale might I add. I have loads of projects in my head that I want to do. I just need to take my time so that I do a good job and don't mess up the beautiful fabric that I bought. Oh and the quilt ladies were all nice to me telling me that I should join a quilter's guild or something like that. They were very nice though and excited to see a young sewing/quilter in the store. (I didn't quite tell them that I haven't made a quilt yet. I just said that I was a newbee).

Our new toy

This is our new boat. We took it out today for a test drive. Pretty nice!! The weather was perfect and it was so nice to feel the breeze as you are gliding over the ocean. Its just the perfect size for us to learn how to boat and to go out fishing on.
