Weekend Projects

So I went to the quilt shop and bought a few fat quarters. So I tried to make this box bag that I found on Etsy. Took me forever to try to figure it out without a pattern, which I could not do. So I looked in my new book and was able to figure something out. I love this fabric. I don't know what it is but I will be sure to go back and get some more.

So with my second fat quarter that I bought I made a holder for my crochet hooks. It has pockets all along it and then you fold it 4 times and tie it. Pretty cool huh? easy peasy this one was.

Check out my new books!

I'm soo excited to get my new books. I got a few sewing books and a crochet book and a few cooking books, plus a free duffle bag. All for a good price with the lovely book club that I joined. Totally worth it.
I'm soo excited to read my books and to think of new ideas of stuff to make.

Does anyone want to go to Paris?

I will seriously go there just so that I can shop in stores like the ones listed in this blog. Sooo many cute things, and patterns and just oh my favorite new blog!!!

Does anyone know where I can find cool stuff like this either online or here anywhere?

Sewing Question

Ok, so what is Interfacing? I know that its something that you what, line the fabric with? Is it to make it stronger or something?

For my bags I have been using like a thin matting but then I made a bag without it, just doubled the fabric to have a lining on the inside. but should I be using interfacing or something?

Nothing much has been happening with me lately. Spending alot of time with Jason and Laura (Tom's brother and future sister in law, hopefully my future sister in law too.)

We went to the boat races on the Fourth of July which was fun. I got sooo sunburnt, even though I spend most of the time under a tent.

Work has been ok. I was hoping that AC Moore would open up soon so that I could apply for a part-time night job, but guess what I found out! Well now the sign at the mall says Michaels instead of AC Moore so I am totally upset and don't know if I want to go there now. Cause AC Moore has soo much more cool craft stuff then Michaels. For some reason Michaels seems to carry just the same old crap all the time. No new scrapbook paper or anything cool.

Well its raining again outside.

More projects I made

This is the tote bag that I made. Better then the first. I think I'm starting to learn a few things. I know I know I need to take a class, I'm sure I will, but right now I'm having fun just trying to figure things out on my own.

This is a little cosmetic bag that I made. My first attempt at putting on a zipper.

Look what I made

Ok so this is my first quilted bag ever!! Ha. Of course the seams don't match and somehow I messed up putting the strap on. But I'm just so suprised that I made it.
This is a small hipster bag, I'm working on the tote bag next. I think I need to get some stuff for the straps though cause I don't like just using the fabric.

well what do you think?

oh and Mom, show Grandma!!

What should I do?

Ok so I bought these fabric squares with the idea that I would make a quilted tote bag. Well the squares are really pretty but I think that they are too pastel for a bag. So I'm thinking of making a quilt for a baby blanket (to save for one day when I do have kids) just cause the colors and patterns are colorful.

So what do you think? Should I make a tote bag? or should I make it into a blanket?

My new toy

So I got a lovely new toy over the weekend, a Singer 7442 sewing machine. I love it although I wonder why it took me so long to realize that a sewing machine would be a good thing to have for my craft collection. So far I have made a few pillowcases, a pot holder, a pillow and a tote bag. I'm waiting for some fabric to arrive in the mail and then I'm going to try to make a quilted tote bag.
We shall see how that goes. I'm not one to use patterns but eventually I will try one.

Adventures at the beach

So Laura and I attempted to bring Oscar to the beach last night. Well he liked the sand, although had a rough time walking in it. Then once he got closer to the water he freaked out and tried running back. Now Oscar loves to swim in the pool so I figured that he would like the ocean. Well needless to say I had to end up carrying him while I tried to walk on the beach. So next time he will stay home.
I still think that he had a good time.
